The Maritime Union of Australia’s new website launched in conjunction with the union’s latest campaign to refloat the Australian shipping industry.
MUA aimed to use the website to make a big campaign splash on launch. With almost 500 emails to the Minister for Transport Anthony Albanese MP in under a week, the MUA made it’s new online prowess well and truly felt.
Strong campaigning features are augmented by rich multimedia content capacity showcasing the union’s media unit and it’s compelling video documentary work.
The website aims to provide MUA members with critical industry and branch specific information while providing the media with the kind of information that allows for balanced coverage of the issues.
Embedded Google Earth maps help users navigate around the world and around the nation, stop off at MUA ports, and zoom in on comrade unions in London, New York, Rotterdam, San Francisco, Sydney, Jakarta and Johannesburg. The map demonstrates international solidarity and how the MUA is forging strong union alliances at home and abroad to organise globally for workers’ rights.
In keeping with our iterative approach to design we’ll be rolling out features in the following months including the MUA shop, more EBAs, branch news, links, and an expanded map system.
