Keepin’ it Wheel for the planet

On Sunday 10th October, the streets of Sydney were filled with (bike) love, thanks to the amazing turn out for our Keep it Wheel ride. Our aim was to celebrate the city’s new cycleways as well as the global day of climate solutions organised by 350.org and the 10:10 global climate campaigns.

The Keep it Wheel team did a great job of engaging with local businesses and sending a big heart-felt ‘thank you’ to them for soldiering on through the cycleway road works. We’ve had great feedback from cafe and shop owners along the cycleways and from the wider community.

A massive thank you to the 120+ people who came along – you were part of the most widespread day of environmental action that this planet’s ever seen! By getting involved, you helped to send the loudest message yet to our politicians that we’re ready to get to work on climate solutions.

We’ve uploaded photos of the day to our Flickr page (if you have any shots you’d like to share, send over any you took please at io@digitaleskimo.net). Remember to visit and support any business sporting the Keep it Wheel Bike Friendly sticker.

Order your own 350 ‘Keep it Wheel’ photo

Get your own large, high res prints of the photo above at Photo Merchant or download the jpeg (currently headlining the 350.org Flickr page) – make sure you share it with everyone you can!

Order your own ‘Keep it Wheel’ T-shirt

Buy a Fair Trade, environmentally accredited and organic ‘Keep it Wheel’ T-shirt from Moral Fibre (an awesome company committed to social justice and environmental responsibility) and wear it with pride! The shirts will be online in the next couple of days, so stay on the look out for them.

By purchasing a photo or T-shirt, you’ll go in the draw to win Single Origin Fair Trade coffee packs and Grand Royal Barbers prizes. All profits go towards costs of the photography and the event.

Thanks again for your support! Big thanks to eskimos Catherine Marshall, Sally Robertson, Yvonne Lee and Vaike Neeme for going above and beyond the call pulling this together. Bigups also to the lads at Elevated Aspects Photography for the camera rig and patience as our virgo creative director art-directed 200 hungry people! Also well done Vegpledgers for the ideas, great food and inviting us to crash your picnic with our pushies!
