MUA Keep Australia Afloat

MUA add your virtual ship

Help keep Australia afloat!

Add your ship to the MUA’s virtual fleet to protect Australia’s coastline and raise safety and human rights standards for all ships that travel in our waters.

In just 10 years, our merchant shipping fleet has shrunk by over half. Australian seafarers continue to lose their jobs to overseas competitors (some of whom choose to run ‘ships of shame’ to selfishly maximise profits) because of out dated laws and regulations. But at what price do we permit them to do so? Over the past year a number of tragic incidents resulting in the loss of life and significant damage to our coastline have re-enforced how change is urgently needed. The Labor Government has committed itself to revitalising the Australian shipping industry, however we’re in desperate need of a policy reform package and greater investment in new ships before it’s too late.

Building on the  success last year of the MUA’s “Time for Sea Change” campaign, Digital Eskimo and the MUA co-designed a creative strategy  that would mobilise members and supporters to firmly encourage local MP’s to engage with their Cabinet colleagues on this important issue. We’ve created a collection of online and offline assets that aim to inform and inspire, including an A4 Leaflet, an A3 Poster and a set of stickers for supporters to wear.

A central piece of the campaign is a shipping ‘passport’ containing quick facts and figures clearly presented through the use of some simple information graphics.

Thanks to Zoe Reynolds and the team over at MUA for their valuable collaboration on this project. We’re proud to have had the opportunity to deliver a campaign that will positively change the face of Australian shipping and protect our coastline
